Situated in the middle part of Beijing-Shanghai railway line, Yanzhou Station is an important hub of railway transportation in the northwestern Shandong Province. The newly completed lines of Yanzhou-Shijiazhuang and Yanzhou-Xinjiang meet here. The station lies in the eastern part of Yanzhou city. It takes charge of the business of receiving, transporting and transferring passengers from 5 different regions of Shandong Province, namely Jining, Linyi, Rizhao, Tai’an and counties and towns subordinated to them. Currently, the average number of passenger trains arriving here is 134 per day. Around 10000 passengers are transported every day and up to 1900000 passengers all the year round. The overall revenue amounts to 1000000000 RMB.
The main hall of the station was started using in September 1990. The Ticket Office lies on the south side of the hall. There are 7 wickets in all. From No.1 to No.5, national-wide networking tickets are sold. No.3 is for soldiers and No.2 and No.4 are for students and meanwhile the through tickets are also sold here. In addition, No.8 is for group tickets. No.6 is the wicket where passengers can return tickets or make inquiries.
The waiting room covers an area of 3437 square meters. It’s a two-storey building, in which there are two ordinary waiting rooms, a soft-seat room and a room for honored guests. There is a deposit service section for small articles within. According to the statistics, the utmost number of passengers gathering here is 1800 one day. The Entrance lies on the north side of the station. There are 7 lines served for passengers when they get on or off the trains. Besides, there are 3 platforms with ceilings.
Yanzhou is close to Qufu, the hometown of the famous sage in Chinese history. Influenced by the doctrines of Mencius and Confucius, the staff of Yanzhou Station advocate the Confucianism and create their own culture “ carry forward the good civilization and learn to love others”. They set up their service ideal “ my action, your satisfaction”. Thereby, the doctrine of humanity is highly valued here and is being carried forward. In order to create a comfortable and harmonious environment for passengers, the station authority selected 34 well-known sayings of Mencius and Confucius and set a culture gallery as long as 80 meters with pictures and words. Yanzhou Station offers a platform for the passengers to experience the new extension of the civilization of Confucianism in the new era. We sincerely hope every passenger could appreciate Confucianism and benefit from it while at rest.
