Turnover - count me in
[ 2008-10-18 16:30:00 | By: Ivy ]

This afternoon, a supervisor from HK briefed us on something to take care of at the office.

At one point, she mentioned one very interesting point, that is, HR department should be responsible for and active in creating a pleasant working environment, as this could boost communication and interaction between each individual, and ease the burden high turnover rate would pose on our job.

I cannot help laughing inside my heart upon hearing this point.

I laughed not because that was pointless, but because of my previous thought of resignation. I know that I have just been through the probationary period.  But, the thought of resignation never dispersed from my mind.  And up till now, I am still thinking of immediate resignation when the contract expires. There is no second thought, nor hesitation.

    Turnover?
    Count me in please

Know why I am so dissatisfied?

    1) The salary is so low. 2000 plus salary cannot ensure any better life. Given the current inflation rate, costs of living, and traveling charges, this salary is way too low.  Do you remember the hierarchical theory? There are 5 hierarchies of human needs. And the need for food, shelter, clothing and traveling comes first to be met. And only on this basis could people get more satisfaction on other higher needs and get more motives and higher morale needed for better performance.  The salary itself detracts a lot of satisfaction, and ultimately, performance.  Suppose oftentimes you are dissatisfied for no good reason, how could you deliver?

    2) The miserable process of apartment renting. I never thought it would be beyond possible to rent an apartment with others in city centre of Panyu. I offered to pay 60% of the total rental, but still the fact was few people would afford it.

    3) Unsatisfactory route of shuttle bus. Currently there are 2 spots the bus planned to pick us up. And these spots are metro stations of Shiqiao, panyu square and shiqi. And because of this, some of the colleagues have to rent in Shiqiao of Panyu.  But still, majority of the colleagues, except for those Panyu natives, prefer to live in downtown Guangzhou. Inside scoop came first early last month that the shuttle bus would pick us up in downtown Guangzhou soon, but the exact date was unknown. At the beginning of this week, I got an email saying the shuttle bus would go to downtown Guangzhou, but to wherever near the current pick-up and drop-off spots. This came as good news. But soon, it was revealed that another bus was added to pick up people, however, it would not go to downtown Guangzhou. The sole change was the route.

It was still picking people up in panyu.

    How sad.
But despite this, many colleagues still prefer to travel a long way. Downtown Guangzhou is where people preferred to live.

    4) The lunch. Maybe I am too picky. 9 out of 10 days, duck is the main dish served. This is the point. Duck is what I dislike. I have no preference for duck, but feel sick at it and any dishes that made with duck. How gross duck dishes are!!

    5) More is yet to filled in. But now, I want to stop.
